Job summary

Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) invites applicants to join the Patient Healthcare Fellowship, a paid 14-week program to prepare participants for entry-level administrative roles within the health system. Fellows participate in in-person training at the YMCA Education and Training Center, followed by orientation and onboarding.

The fellowship trains in medical office operations, MS Office, career readiness, and BMCHS workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be a current BMCHS patient eligible for the program.
• Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare administration.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in standard English for patient communications.
• Able to collaborate and maintain professionalism in healthcare settings.
• Committed to attendance and completing all program components.
• Basic computer literacy; MS Office familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in in-person classroom and hands-on training focused on medical administrative and office support skills.
• Learn scheduling, patient registration, electronic health records, and communication.
• Engage in Microsoft Office and data management training, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and customer service skills throughout all aspects of the fellowship.
• Participate in BMCHS orientation, shadowing, and department-based activities during the final two weeks of the program.
• Successfully complete all coursework and program requirements in preparation for CMAA exam.
