Job summary

Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) offers a 14-week paid Patient Healthcare Fellowship designed to prepare participants for entry-level administrative roles within the health system. Fellows receive in-person training at the YMCA Education and Training Center, followed by BMCHS orientation and onboarding.

Participants gain skills in medical office operations, Microsoft Office, career readiness, and BMCHS-specific workflows, with on-site experience during the final two weeks to apply to

Qualifications

• Must be a current BMCHS Patient.
• Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare administration.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients by phone and email.
• Basic computer literacy; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in in-person classroom and hands-on training for medical administrative and office support skills.
• Learn and apply scheduling, patient registration, EHR, and communication workflows.
• Engage in Microsoft Office and data management training (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and customer service throughout the fellowship.
• Participate in BMCHS orientation, shadowing, and department activities during the final weeks.
• Complete coursework and program requirements to qualify for CMAA exam prep.
