Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking highly motivated Environmental Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Norcross, GA Office. This is a paid full-time position with anticipated duration from June through August 2027, flexible.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Senior, Masters and PhD students pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Urban Planning, Geography, Natural Resource Management, Anthropology, Archaeology or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Comfort in the outdoors and ability to maintain a positive attitude during year-round field work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Excellent data collection, technical writing and communication skills.
• Collaborative, organized, self-motivated, detail orientated person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Google Earth and GIS.
• Interested in field work, CEQA, and NEPA.
• Honest, fun, hard-working, and ready to learn and grow.
• Research and analytical skills.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• The successful candidate will also be able to perform well with minimal supervision and have familiarity with GPS and GIS technologies.
• The candidate should have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
• Specie identification experience is preferred but not required.
• Have an interest in regulatory permitting and CEQA.
• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCad, MathCad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ARCView GIS, etc.) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist on current environmental permitting and compliance projects.
• Assist with wetland delineations, wildlife and plant surveys, and other biological fieldwork.
• Document research and field investigations, including surveying and data recovery.
• Perform water quality sampling, vegetation mapping, brownfield fieldwork.
• Support for field leads, field deployments, field inspections, etc.
• Support additional tasks as necessary.
• Write sections of environmental documents.
