Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking highly motivated Environmental Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program in our Cary, NC Office. This is a paid full-time position with anticipated duration from June through August 2027 (flexible).

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and technologists. The role may transition to a full-time position after graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant bachelor or associate degree.
• Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with engineering software (AutoCAD, Mathcad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ArcView GIS) is preferred but not required.
• OSHA safety training is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support project tasks including regulatory requirements/review estimates and research.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation and data presentation.
• Assist with fieldwork such as groundwater sampling, soil sampling, and ecological risk assessments.
• Oversee soil excavation and remediation inspections as needed.
• Assist with engineering calculations and design tasks for various properties.
• Fulfill other related duties as necessary.
