Job summary

Kinsale Insurance is offering a paid summer actuarial internship in Richmond, VA. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in pricing, reserving, and analytics while supporting underwriters and leaders with data-driven insights.

A rising junior or senior pursuing a quantitative degree will build skills in reports, analysis, and communication. Onsite schedule is Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with mentoring and exposure to multiple divisions.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, computer science, or another quantitative field.
• Background in statistics, spreadsheets, databases, or statistical software.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Reporting and analyzing key operational metrics.
• Building and modifying reports containing policy information.
• Reviewing loss experience across commercial insurance products.
• Developing pricing variables using internal and external data.
• Evaluating economic and statistical trends to support pricing assumptions.
• Projecting future losses from current policies.
• Communicating results to actuarial colleagues and business leaders.
