Job summary

Kinsale Insurance offers a paid summer actuarial internship for rising juniors and seniors. You will gain hands-on experience in pricing, reserving, and analytics, with mentorship and exposure to multiple divisions across the company.

Responsibilities include reporting metrics, building reports, and evaluating trends to support pricing decisions. Onsite in Richmond, VA, with a structured training program and leadership engagement.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, computer science, or another quantitative field.
• Background in statistics, spreadsheets, databases, or statistical software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
• Passed one or more actuarial exams.

Responsibilities

• Report and analyze key operational metrics.
• Build and modify reports containing policy information.
• Review loss experience across commercial insurance products.
• Develop pricing variables using internal and external data.
• Evaluate economic and statistical trends to support pricing assumptions.
• Project future losses from current policies.
• Communicate results to actuarial colleagues and business leaders.
