Job summary

People Creating Success is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Santa Maria, CA. The role focuses on supporting adults with developmental disabilities in both supported living and independent living programs, building meaningful relationships and promoting independence.

You will assist with daily living tasks, participate in community activities, and help participants achieve personal goals under a person-centered plan. Weekend availability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Compassionate approach to working with adults with developmental disabilities.
• Clear and respectful communication with participants and families.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with daily living skills such as cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
• Encourage independence, hobbies, and social activities.
• Assist participants access and participate in community activities.
• Assist with personal care such as medication support, hygiene and bathing (lifting/transferring may be required).
• Collaborate Person-Centered Care planning with participant and record progress of care plan.
• Document progress of care plans and shift notes.

Employment Information

Location: SantaMaria

Part-Time: $20.25 / hour

$10/month cell phone stipend

Health care benefits and PTO available if you transition to full time employment

$500 Sign On Bonus (In 2 installments, $250 upon completion of 30 days & 90 days after your first official in person non-training shift)

Your Responsibilities

Support participants with daily living skills such as cleaning, cooking, and budgeting

Encourage and model independence, hobbies, and social activities

Assist participants access and participate in community activities

Assist with personal care such as medication support, hygiene and bathing (lifting / transferring may be required)

Collaborate Person-Centered Care planning with participant

Record progress of care plan

Who We’re Looking For

Someone who is compassionate with a person-centered mindset

Someone who is capable of communication with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsible, and can assist in goal progress tracking

CPR / First Aid certification (Training will be provided if you’re not certified or need to be recertified)

Weekend Availability (Is a plus but not required)

Candidate Expectations of Development

Behavior Support & De-escalation: Support individuals through heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.

Emotional Regulation: Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
