Job summary

People Creating Success (PCS) is seeking a Day Program Instructor in Newbury Park, CA to support adults with developmental disabilities. You will lead health and wellness activities, including fitness classes, yoga, and nutrition-focused cooking sessions, while fostering meaningful community engagement.

The role offers weekday hours (7AM–4PM) with both part-time and full-time opportunities. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is provided in two installments, plus benefits and PTO if full-time.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, person-centered care approach.
• Ability to guide and support participants respectfully.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be certified.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support participants in health and wellness activities such as exercise classes with certified trainers.
• Conduct yoga sessions and nutrition-focused cooking classes.
• Promote health education and healthy eating habits.
• Coordinate community outings using company vans or public transport.
• Collaborate with participants to tailor a curriculum to individual goals (academic, social, etc.).
• Assist with personal care (changing, toileting).
• Maintain progress notes and update care plans.

Employment Information

Location: Newbury Park, CA

Full & Part-Time: $20.60 / hour

$10/month cell phone stipend

Weekdays 7Am -4PM

Health care benefits and PTO available if you transition to full time employment

$1000 Sign on bonus, installed in two increments $500 upon first shift after training completion, $500 upon 90 days of employment.

Your Responsibilities

Lead and support participants in health and wellness activities such as:

• Exercise classes with certified trainers
• Yoga sessions with certified instructors
• Cooking Classes focused on nutrition
• Health education and healthy eating habits
• Participate in community outings using company vans or public transportation
• Collaborate with participants on a personalized curriculum tailored to each participants’ goal - mindful of academics, socialization, and more
• Assist with personal care such as changing and toileting
• Record keep progress of care plan

• A valid driver’s license
• CPR / First Aid certification (Training will be provided if you’re not certified or need to be recertified)

Candidate Expectations of Development

• Behavior Support & De-escalation: Support individuals through heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Emotional Regulation: Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
