Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of senior colleagues be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
• Act as a supervisor to student nurses in training and assessor once full training is completed.
• Under the supervision of senior colleagues facilitate the professional and clinical development of paediatric practice through the application of research.
• Under the supervision of senior colleagues provide clinical support to the infants’, children’s and young people’s Emergency Department.
• Ensure that the communication of issues relating to the child’s care is communicated in a manner that is appropriate and understandable to both the child and family.
• To ensure that patient documentation is accurate and legible and is aware of the legal implication of these documents.
• To be able to assess child’s individual needs and have the ability to recognise a sick child and initiate urgent when necessary.
