Job summary

S&C Electric is seeking a Pad-Mount Gear Assembler in Chicago, IL. You will build high-quality pad-mount gear enclosures, install components, and perform torque-based mechanical inspections to ensure reliable power grid equipment.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, hands-on tool experience, and the ability to follow standardized work instructions in a fast-paced assembly setting. Weekend work is not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow standard work and procedures.
• Proficiency with air-impact tools and other hand-held tools.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn assembly processes.
• Previous experience in assembly or manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble pad-mount gear enclosures ranging in size from 42" x 37" x 70" to 86" x 94" x 76".
• Identify, transport, install, mount, and bolt components including bus assemblies and high-voltage switches.
• Perform mechanical inspections using torque wrenches, screwdrivers, and tape measures.
• Use material handling equipment, hand tools, power tools, air-impact tools, gauges, and overhead cranes.
• Work in a fast-paced assembly environment following standardized work instructions and meet takt time.
