Job summary

University Orthopaedic Surgery Center is seeking a compassionate PACU RN to join our surgical care team. The RN provides care during the immediate postoperative and post-anesthesia recovery period, ensuring safe, attentive, and individualized care following surgery.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced surgical environment. ASN/BSN preferred with ACLS/PALS per facility guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Tennessee RN license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong nursing assessment skills and clinical judgment.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and telephone communication.
• Attention to detail with time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, individualized nursing care in the immediate postoperative and recovery period.
• Assess and document patients' status upon arrival to the PACU.
• Monitor and document post-anesthesia recovery per policies.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to surgeon/anesthesia team.
• Perform postoperative assessments prior to discharge.
• Educate patients/families on post-discharge care and warning signs.
• Maintain a clean, organized recovery area and manage supplies.
