Job summary

Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The role centers on caring for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery, monitoring airway, vitals, pain, and cognitive status in the immediate post-operative period.

You will prepare patients for discharge or transfer and educate families on post-op care. Requirements include an accredited nursing degree, RN licensure in the practicing state, and BLS/ACLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Post Anesthesia Care Unit, critical care or perioperative nursing experience required.
• RN licensure in the state of practice required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Receive handoff from anesthesia and surgical teams and complete a full post-anesthesia assessment.
• Monitor airway, respiratory status, hemodynamics, level of consciousness and pain during recovery.
• Administer medications, fluids and blood products per physician orders.
• Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications, escalating to the anesthesia provider as needed.
• Apply discharge criteria and prepare patients for transfer to inpatient unit or discharge home.
• Provide post-operative instructions and education to patients and families.
