Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized peri-anesthesia care across Pre anesthesia, Post anesthesia Phase I and II, and extended care following sedation or anesthesia for various procedures.

Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, with licensure in good standing, and opportunities for bridge programs and state certification.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English as required for direct patient care.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
• Option for master’s level bridge program with equivalent bachelor’s coursework.
• Upon licensure, appointment follows and may convert to permanent.
• Foreign nursing graduates need degree equivalency validation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and supervise nursing care across the peri-anesthesia continuum.
• Coordinate care focusing on patient education, self-management, and satisfaction.
• Administer medications and procedures per policies and guidelines.
• Assess patients pre- and post-anesthesia and manage post-sedation status.
