Job summary

DirectShifts is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in New York. You will perform comprehensive assessments, document patient responses, and collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to plan and implement individualized, goal-directed care.

The role requires a NY State RN license and BCLS (ACLS/PALS preferred). A minimum of two years in PACU within an acute care setting is essential, with strong documentation and teamwork skills to support

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years' PACU experience in an acute care setting.
• Current NY State RN License is required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive and cultural diversity of the patient.
• Applies knowledge of illness, injuries and diseases and uses available resources in assessment processes.
• Provides written assessment of patient on admission and subsequently; based on patient need and IMC policy.
• Formulates a goal directed, individualized plan of care, prioritizes and utilizes efficient resources as developed from documented nursing diagnoses/patient care and outcomes.
• Collaborates with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs.
• Implements plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
• Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families.
• Documents nursing interventions provided to meet assessed patient/family needs.
• Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly.
• Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and provides support and guidance to colleagues.
• Performs other duties as required.
