Job summary

Madera Community Hospital in Central California is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PACU to assess patients post-anesthesia and support recovery in a safe, coordinated manner. You will monitor for changes in status, document nursing actions, and educate patients after surgery.

The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care and timely intervention for respiratory or other post-anesthesia concerns. On-call and weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program.
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU, Critical Care, or PACU experience.
• California RN state license.
• BLS Certification.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer into job.
• PALS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer into job.
• Ability to take On-Call during the week and work some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient needs for continuous assessment in the PACU using the nursing process.
• Document and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing actions.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure continuity of care after surgery.
• Provide post-surgical education and maintain a sterile, safe surgical environment.

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse for the PACU will utilize the nursing process to identify patient needs for continuous assessment in the PACU. Will document and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing actions and ensure a safe environment of care. Work alongside other departments to ensure continuity of care. Provide post-surgical education to patients, creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment for the patient and monitoring the patient’s physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical care continuum. Will monitor patients for changes in status and indications of conditions such as respiratory depression and institute appropriate interventions.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program
