Job summary

Emerson in Austin, Texas is seeking a Senior Software Architect to set technical direction across embedded firmware, PLCs, and workstation software within PACSystems. You will influence architecture, select technologies, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver high‑performance, real‑time industrial automation solutions.

You will mentor engineers, balance technical debt with feature delivery, and ensure solutions meet customer needs and product commitments while collaborating with product

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field as specified.
9+ years of relevant software engineering experience (8+ years with a master's).
Experience with high‑performance embedded real‑time systems.
Experience with PLCs, industrial controllers, or industrial automation.
Strong C and C++ development experience.
Experience with RTOS such as VxWorks or RT Linux.
Experience designing software for distributed systems with timing/reliability constraints.
Demonstrated ability to make architecture decisions and guide teams.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical discussions.
Strong communication across engineering, product management, and leadership.
Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Responsibilities
