Job summary

St. Tammany Health System seeks a dedicated Billing Specialist to support patient and guarantor inquiries related to medical billing. You will manage timely responses and work with the billing team to resolve questions from research through resolution.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare billing, and strong communication skills. The role is scheduled 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, on site in Covington, LA.

• Knowledge of FDCPA preferred and billing terminology understood.
• Customer service experience in healthcare settings is advantageous.

Job Description And Position Requirements

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Work Shift: (M-F) 8am-4:30pm

Summary

Responsible for promptly responding to patients and/or guarantors regarding medical billing questions and concerns. Communicates with patient and/or guarantor throughout the research until resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
• Must have 2 or more years Customer Service experience, preferably in a healthcare related Business Office
• Preferred knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care programs; including billing and authorization requirements
• Preferred knowledge of payor payment methodologies and have an understanding of how patient liability amounts are determined
• Excellent communication skills required
• Understanding of Fair Debt and Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) strongly preferred

Physical Demands

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required.
