Job summary

Eisenhower Medical Center is seeking a skilled RIS/PACS specialist to plan and upgrade Picture Archiving and Communication Systems, Radiology Information Systems, and Cardiology workflows. You will work with clinicians to optimize imaging workflows, reduce errors, and ensure reliable system performance.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of RIS/PACS, with experience in implementing new systems, troubleshooting, and providing end-user training.

Default Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Hours: 40 Salary range: $41.00 - $62.28 Schedule: Full Time Shift Hours: 8 Hour employee Department: Information Systems

Job Objective: Provides highly skilled RIS/PACS and CPACS application planning, upgrades and regular maintenance of Pictorial Archiving Communication Systems, assigned applications, integration of modalities, and workflows that support Radiology and Cardiology. Works with the RIS/PACS Manager to plan and implement new systems, optimize workflows, application architecture and complex application design and configuration to improve clinical workflows and reduce the opportunities for errors or delays.

Education
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in IT or healthcare related field or an additional four (4) years of applicable experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Information Technology or healthcare related field
Licensure/Certification
  • Required: One (1) relevant IT Certification (DICOM, Radiant, Cupid or related IT certification) or Healthcare Certification (AART, RN, RT or related healthcare license/certification)
Experience
  • Required: Five (5) years of experience in healthcare and technology or nine (9) years relevant combined experience in healthcare and technology in lieu of Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Experience working with radiologists or in an imaging department, supporting imaging or cardiology applications

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to independently document issues, findings, and workflows; works closely with end users to identify options for optimal design and implementation of solutions , Ability to logically troubleshoot application and workstation solutions independently; experience with logical analysis and demonstrated track record of performing root cause analysis and creating plans to resolve complex application or integration issues , Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations with peers, users and vendors and is skilled in conflict resolution, Ability to proactively identify issues, identify potential solutions and resolve issues at the root cause , Ability to teach/train radiology and cardiology staff to application workflows, Excellent communication, oral and written skills, experienced in preparing meeting agendas, summary notes, and communications to end users, Experienced with common business applications, MS Office, Visio, IS ticket management systems and general workstation troubleshooting tools , Knowledge of modality imaging software and able to logically troubleshoot and resolved issues, Proactively reviews open items, plans and executes work with minimal direction from RIS/PACS manager, Self-starter; driven to take action without needing prompting, Technically skilled and understands the "how and why" of imaging processes work and is able to design complex solutions , Track record of developing new skills and approaches change with a positive approach and mentors the same in others, Understands fundamentals of imaging software and hardware systems, networking, server design, and operating systems, Utilizes effective time management skills as well as organizational and personal skills to work with a variety of people

Essential Responsibilities
  • 1.Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • 2.Responsible for planning implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and Cardiology systems.
  • 3.Partners with radiologists, technologists and staff to recommend, create and optimize hanging protocols, exam filters, dictation profiles, reports and proactively prioritize issue resolution.
  • 4.Plans and engineers connectivity between imaging modalities and PACS. Manages the suite of modalities and tools to route DICOM images to systems like post processing, artificial intelligence.
  • 5.Installs software and trains physicians and staff on applications and workflows and manages the overall PACS confluence documentation to ensure updates are made promptly. Mentors PACS Admin I in documentation standards.
  • 6.Proactively identifies and resolves interface errors with Radiology and Cardiology systems. Uses Lean and root cause analysis quality processes to recommend new workflows and or processes to reduce the potential for errors.
  • 7.Provides leadership for troubleshooting issues and working closely with customers and the RIS/PACS team to resolve issues.
  • 8.Creates and maintains radiology, cardiology and imaging reports and ensure dashboards are updated.
  • 9.Mentors others in quality documentation in tickets, confluence and project plans while seeking input from experienced peers.
  • 10.Leads process improvement processes and projects applies improvement processes to daily work tasks when appropriate.
  • 11.Proactively monitors performance reports, work queues, error logs to ensure systems are performing optimally. Suggest alternatives for performance improvement.
  • 12.Ensures effective communication with physicians, other clinical personnel between assigned departments, vendors and IS staff members.
  • 13.Assist the departments in utilizing the software to support and maximize the operational benefits to achieve best practices.
  • 14.Leads RIS/PACS projects and tasks necessary to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • 15.Supports Tumor Board conferences and optimizes systems to support privacy and security.
  • 16.Assures that all necessary documentation (i.e. procedures, processes) are properly completed.
  • 17.Completes RIS/PACS/CPACS competencies.
  • 18.Participates in the RIS/PACS OnCall rotation.
  • 19.Performs other duties as assigned.
