Responsibilities
Full Time Second Shift
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for complying with safety work rules at all times and reinforcing safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed to reduce product and process variability. The packer’s purpose is to pack finished high-quality frozen egg products in cases according to customer specifications, including filling and folding omelets, preparing them for freezing, and monitoring for defective products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Sort and pack frozen egg products according to customer specifications while keeping pace with machinery and conveyor systems.
- Read scales and check case weights as per specifications.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs safely.
- Work in teams to ensure the conveyor system functions smoothly without backing up or jamming.
- Work at conveyor lines near ovens, preparing egg patties and omelets for freezing.
- Rotate to different positions during the shift.
- Determine if products meet specifications and take corrective action if needed.
- Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the area.
- Adhere to safe work practices, GMP, HACCP guidelines, and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure SQF Level certification. Report conditions that may affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere through professional communication and teamwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- No prior experience or training necessary.
- Ability to read simple words and recognize similarities and differences in words and numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions.
- Ability to handle problems involving one variable in standardized situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant motion.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs repeatedly.
- Occasionally lift up to 55 lbs safely when handling pallets; team lifting is recommended.
- Ability to work indoors on hard surfaces in temperatures between 45°F and 90°F.
- Ability to rotate among stations and travel stairs.
- Basic verbal and math skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Follow GMP and safety regulations, and wear PPE as required.
