Packaging Tech 1 / Packaging Tech 2

Hours: 2nd shift ( Mon - Thurs / 3:30 pm - 2:00 am))

Summary:

The Packaging Technician 1 & 2 responsibilities are to detect and identify defect trends during the inspection of manufactured products. Accurately inspecting and selecting product samples for both routine and non-routine quality and stability testing. Performing labeling activities and to verify product and diluent vial labeling used in the packaging of biological products for accuracy.

The Packaging Technician 2 responsibilities include the tasks of the Tech 1 level, with additional duties such as troubleshooting, maintaining, and changeover of packaging equipment, setting up and operating various packaging machinery, and delivering samples for testing.

Responsibilities for Packaging Tech 1 include:
  • Perform paced inspections of final container products for multiple categories of defects.
  • Document job tasks on the Batch Production Record (BPR), SOP, or other acceptable forms.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks and maintain department cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all safety and cGMP policies.
  • Meet visual inspection recertification requirements.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot packaging equipment.
  • Perform manual packaging and inspect for defects.
  • Operate material handling equipment as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Effective team worker.
  • Pass vision and colorblindness tests.
  • Identify product defects as per PDA Lexicon and SOPs.
  • Maintain focused attention during activities.
Requirements for Tech 1:

High School Diploma; experience as a Packaging Operator/Inspector preferred.

Responsibilities for Packaging Tech 2 include:
  • Perform duties similar to Tech 1, with added troubleshooting and changeover responsibilities.
  • Set up and operate serialization and labeling equipment.
  • Deliver samples for testing and review data in systems like LIMS, SAP.
  • Ensure correct components are used based on specifications.
  • Evaluate rejected labels and document findings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Tech 2:
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Pass vision and color perception tests.
  • Identify product defects as per SOPs.
  • Maintain focus during tasks.
Requirements for Tech 2:

High School Diploma, 1-year Packaging Inspector/Label Verification experience, preferably in pharma/biotech.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Manufacturing environment with exposure to biological fluids, chemicals, machinery, noise, cold, and confined spaces. Requires standing, hand movements, lifting, and communication skills. Protective equipment provided.
