Hours: 2nd shift (Mon - Thurs / 3:30 pm - 2:00 am)
Summary: The Packaging Technician 1 & 2 are responsible for detecting and identifying defect trends during the inspection of manufactured products. They accurately inspect and select product samples for routine and non-routine quality and stability testing. They perform labeling activities and verify product and diluent vial labeling used in the packaging of biological products for accuracy. Responsibilities for Technician 2 include these tasks plus additional duties such as setting up, operating, and troubleshooting various packaging equipment, and conducting periodic challenges for packaging systems.
Additional duties include setting up and operating labeling verification systems, vial labelers, cartoners, and shrink banding machines, as well as conducting periodic challenges for system verification.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Able to work effectively as part of a team, pass annual vision testing for near vision and colorblindness, and identify product defects per PDA Lexicon and SOPs. Capable of maintaining focus during packaging activities.
Requirements: Tech 1 - High School Diploma; Packaging Operator/Inspector experience preferred. Tech 2 - HS Diploma; 1-year Packaging Inspector/Label Verification Tech experience, preferably in pharma or biotech.
Work environment includes exposure to biological fluids, chemicals, electrical equipment, noise, cold, and confined spaces. Personal protective equipment is required. The role involves standing for long periods, frequent hand movements, lifting, bending, reaching, and communication skills.
