Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Wilson, NC is seeking a Specialist, Technical Operations Engineer to provide on-site technical support for packaging and medical device assembly lines at the Wilson site.

The role partners with Packaging Technology and Global Engineering Services to specify, procure, install, and qualify new equipment and support technology transfer from other sites within the Manufacturing Division. The position requires a BS in Engineering with at least 1 year of packaging/process

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent with at least 1 year experience in packaging/process equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for packaging and device assembly equipment problems on inline products.
• Lead root cause analysis and deviation investigations for process and equipment related quality events.
• Support design, machinability evaluation, and qualification of packaging components and medical devices.
• Support scale-up and technology transfer from pilot to production scale including equipment design, qualification, process demonstration, process performance qualification and process validation.
• Lead small-scale and support large-scale capital projects with Packaging Technology and Global Engineering Services on equipment design, procurement and qualification.
• Author process change controls and implement packaging and device equipment changes.
• Build process robustness through line trials, analyze equipment data, and implement monitoring strategies.
• Support regulatory audits and contribute to inspection readiness.
