Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Technical Operations Engineer to provide on-site support for packaging and medical device assembly lines at the Wilson site.

The role emphasizes equipment performance, troubleshooting, and collaboration with global teams on transfer of new products and processes. The position requires a BS in Engineering or equivalent with at least 1 year of packaging equipment experience, strong communication skills, and a track record of teamwork.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent required with minimum 1 year packaging/process equipment experience.
• Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in pharmaceutical industry and medical devices preferred.
• Project management skills and Lean Six Sigma experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for resolution of packaging and device assembly equipment problems for in-line products.
• Lead root cause analysis and deviation investigations for process and equipment related quality events.
• Support design, machinability evaluation, and qualification of packaging components and Medical Device and Combination Products.
• Support scale-up and technology transfer from pilot to production scale.
• Lead small-scale capital projects and collaborate with Packaging Technology and Global Engineering Services.
• Author process change controls and implement packaging and device assembly equipment/process changes.
• Build and enhance process robustness through line trials, analyze equipment performance data, and implement proactive monitoring.
• Contribute to site inspection readiness by authoring/reviewing technical docs and supporting regulatory audits.
