Job summary

Silgan Containers in Seymour, CT is seeking a production line worker responsible for maintaining product safety and quality across all duties listed. You will monitor ware for defects, pack at standard rate, and operate line equipment to support efficient manufacturing.

Candidates must be able to handle 30-40 lb materials, follow safety policies, and perform housekeeping around the line. This on-site role is part of a drug-free, equal-opportunity environment.

Responsibilities

• Has a fundamental responsibility to ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all duties listed below.
• Promote a safe working environment.
• Understands and adheres to Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ability to work with 30-40 lb. materials
