Training & development

Westbound and Down Brewing Company is looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and hard-working individuals to join our Packaging team. Individuals who dedicate themselves to excellence and quality will be able to advance, as we prefer to promote from within.

Westbound and Down is expanding! We’re looking to hire a new, entry level packaging tech/cellar person that will be based out of the Lafayette location. Any experience on a brewery production line is greatly appreciated but not required. The Lafayette location is a 3-vessel, semi-automated 15 bbl brewhouse with tanks to produce 6000-7500 bbls. Lafayette is our primary production and canning operation. We simultaneously run our pub brewing for draft beer in Idaho Springs on a 15 bbl pub system with six 15 bbl FVs and six serving vessels. This role will be directly overseen by our packaging manager. This position will begin with training on catching cans on the canning line, proper keg cleaning and kegging, pallet building and wrapping, and cooler management.

WORK SCHEDULE

2-3 days of work on the canning line and 2-3 days of keg cleaning a week. Most days will have some blend of both.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operation and basic maintenance of paktek machine, labeler, keg cleaner, keg fillers, and canning line

Ongoing cleaning and organization of brewery

Packing out cases from the canning line, 1-3 days per week

Assist Packaging Manager with inventory management

Perform work across locations (Lafayette and Idaho Springs) with adherence to assigned schedule times and production goals

Move kegs onto pallets for our truck driver to transport

Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Eager to grow in craft beer with a great team of hard working individuals

Physical strength, flexibility and stamina required – must be able to lift 55 lbs repeatedly and push pallets around with pallet jacks.

High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

A strong focus on packaging quality and consistency

Commitment to being a part of a team and working for larger goals

Commitment to quality, helping to create a safe work environment, a great work ethic and attitude, and excitement to learn from our award winning brew team required

Strong organizational, communication, and record keeping skills

Strong time management skills, an attention to detail required, and strength in multi-tasking

Self-motivated, and ability to often work unsupervised from task lists

Good people skills and professional demeanor

Weekend availability required for production as needed (although minimal or rare as of now)

Reliable car or transportation to Lafayette, CO is required

GROWTH POTENTIAL

This position will stay the same for at least this year but we prefer to hire from within for any positions we will need in the future. Learning the ins and outs of our canning line will be very important to aid in our growth and overall success. The ideal candidate will desire to grow with Westbound and further their craft brewing career.

COMPENSATION

Compensation will depend on skill level and experience. Pay Range $21.50 to $24 hourly, health benefits, and PTO.
