Location Description
Michael Foods, Inc., located in Gaylord, Minnesota, is in Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south-central Minnesota, about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hard-cooked egg, and pre-cooked egg products such as scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.
Responsibilities
Starting Wage: $21.50/Hour
Hours: 6 AM - 6 PM
Position Summary
To ensure a high-quality product is being packaged at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain all tray packers and ensure proper operations (loading trays, maintaining proper glue volume, etc.)
- Maintain video jet to ensure they are properly cleaned, adequate liquid is available, correct information is coded, and print is clear and readable at all times.
- Monitor shrink-wrap machine and add film as required.
- Fill in for other Packaging machine operators during breaks and vacations.
- Monitor date on master shipper for legibility and make corrective actions when necessary.
- Set up equipment and materials for production runs.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and productive work area.
- Foster open communication and a positive attitude toward work and colleagues.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality. Report any conditions that may affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
- Perform sanitation procedures according to department and food safety standards.
- Operate, clean, and perform preventive maintenance on extended run fillers such as Elopak Fillers/Capers Scholle.
- Navigate operating systems on tablets for quality and performance checks.
- Follow instructions for ingredient mixing.
- Calculate mathematical equations involving proportions, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
- Ensure food safety and food quality of MFI products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills for speaking before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems involving one variable in standardized situations.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
