Job description

Here at Mars, we have an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking employment to join our factory team as a Packaging Operator.

The Packaging Operator will be a multi-skilled packing associate responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our packing lines while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards during the production of dry pet food. The role also involves identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects.

All positions are on 12-hour rotating schedules:

Days: 6:00 am to 6:30 pm; Nights: 6:00 pm to 6:30 am — 4 days on, 4 days off. The shift rotates from days to nights every 12 weeks.

What are we looking for?
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment and operating high-speed packing machines
  • Mechanical background desirable but not essential
  • Ability to multi-task
What will be your key responsibilities?

The Packaging Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of automated packing machines in the production of dry pet food. Key duties include:

  • Machine Setup and Maintenance: Setting up automated packing machines, loading packing materials, making adjustments, and ensuring proper sanitation.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Clearing jams, reworking defective packaging, troubleshooting faults, and maintaining glue and ink supplies.
  • Quality Assurance: Performing and documenting quality checks throughout the process, ensuring compliance with all quality, food safety, and legislative standards.
  • Safety Practices: Following safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, during equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Equipment Management: Completing cleaning, inspection, and lubrication (CIL) tasks according to schedules to maintain equipment functionality and cleanliness.

This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to manage equipment autonomously. The position may involve performing other jobs consistent with the skill level and physical demands of this role.
