Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Equipment Engineering in the Packaging Technical Operations space. The role provides technical leadership for packaging and device assembly equipment across internal and external networks, driving robust solutions and lifecycle support.

The successful candidate will bring deep process and equipment expertise, strategic acumen, and proven project management experience to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years in pharma/biotech/medical device, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Experience developing equipment standards across multiple sites.
• Strong background in packaging equipment and device assembly.
• Experience with design control, tech transfer, and GMP validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support complex packaging/equipment projects and tech assessments.
• Manage global and site-centric capital and equipment projects.
• Serve as packaging and assembly equipment SME across network.
• Apply AutoCAD/SolidWorks, validation, and Lean/Six Sigma to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with Serialization CoE for implementation and troubleshooting.
