Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Full time Packing/Mechanical Engineer III to design transportation packaging and lead 3D, GD&T-driven development. You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to integrate components into assemblies and to transition designs to production. A Secret level clearance is required or obtainable.

The role emphasizes writing specifications, creating Data Packages, and presenting design results, while building strong communication within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes and structural design.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 transport requirements (shock, vibration, environmental hazards).
• Experience with CAD design utilizing 3D development tools and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Write specifications or design packaging for transport, storage and handling of items weighing from a few to several hundred pounds.
• Participate in detailed design of structural components.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team for design integration of mechanical systems.
• Create Technical Data Packages with 3D drawings, specs and materials lists.
• Prepare high-quality mechanical/electro-mechanical drawings and assemblies.
• Transition product design to production and testing.
• Write technical and proposal documents.
• Create design reports summarizing analysis results.
