Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Full-time Mechanical Engineer specializing in transportation packaging design. You will integrate component design into assemblies and communicate with suppliers within a multi-discipline team. US citizenship and Secret clearance capability are required.

Responsibilities include creating TD packages, 3D drawings, and production transition. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes, and structural design.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 transport requirements (shock, vibration, environmental hazards).
• CAD design using 3D tools and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Writing specifications for packaging for transportation, storage and handling of items weighing from a few to hundreds of pounds.
• Participation in detailed design of structural components.
• Contributing to development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
• Creating Technical Data Packages with 3D drawings, specs and materials lists.
• Preparing and directing high quality mechanical/electro-mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
• Transitioning product design to production and test.
• Writing technical and proposal documents.
• Creating design reports and presentations summarizing results.
