Job summary

Fidelity Manufacturing is seeking a Packaging Mechanic to assemble and install generator packages, tanks, and enclosures at our Texas facility. The role focuses on mechanical assembly, piping, fuel and exhaust system integration, and adherence to customer specifications and engineering requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, familiar with hand and power tools, and can interpret blueprints and work instructions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, generator, fabrication, or related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tanks and enclosures for generator assembly.
  • Perform setup, layout, and installation tasks using proper mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Install generators, fuel systems, exhaust systems, vents, bulkheads, filters, and related accessories.
  • Install fuel, oil, coolant, and other system components according to specifications.
  • Mount generators and associated equipment to tanks and structural platforms.

Job Summary

The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for preparing tanks and enclosures for generator assembly through the installation of mechanical, piping, fuel, exhaust, and support systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring generator packages are assembled safely, accurately, and according to customer specifications and engineering requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with hand and power tools, and the ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions. Experience with generators, industrial equipment, piping systems, rigging, and fabrication environments is highly desirable.

As the Texas facility continues to grow, this role will provide opportunities to expand technical skills, support increasingly complex installations, and contribute to the success of a rapidly growing operation.

Essential Job Functions
Mechanical Assembly & Installation
  • Prepare tanks and enclosures for generator assembly.
  • Perform setup, layout, and installation tasks using proper mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Install generators, fuel systems, exhaust systems, vents, bulkheads, filters, and related accessories.
  • Install fuel, oil, coolant, and other system components according to specifications.
  • Mount generators and associated equipment to tanks and structural platforms.
  • Install annunciators, isolators, fuel filters, fuel polishers, breakers, battery systems, and related equipment.
  • Install intake and discharge plenums, crankcase ventilation systems, exhaust kits, and support components.
  • Perform enclosure sealing and weatherproofing activities.
Piping, Fuel Systems & Rigging
  • Work with black iron pipe, exhaust tubing, and mechanical piping systems.
  • Measure, fabricate, and install piping systems according to engineering requirements.
  • Identify and utilize various fitting types including JIC, Barb, NPT, Boss, and related fittings.
  • Perform pipe fitting and threading operations.
  • Connect fuel systems and related mechanical components.
  • Perform rigging operations associated with generator and equipment installation.
  • Safely move and position equipment using approved rigging and lifting practices.
  • Support material handling activities using forklifts and related equipment as authorized.
Electrical & Mechanical Support
  • Demonstrate understanding of single-phase and three-phase AC systems and basic DC control systems.
  • Apply basic electrical installation practices and wiring techniques.
  • Run wires through conduit, loom, and cable routing systems.
  • Cut, terminate, and crimp cables as required.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and installation drawings.
  • Support troubleshooting and installation activities involving electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure installations meet company quality and workmanship standards.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Complete required quality control documentation and supporting records.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Support production goals and department performance objectives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, hydraulic cutters, crimpers, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
Highly Preferred
  • Commercial generator experience.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical installation environments.
  • Experience with fuel systems, exhaust systems, piping, and rigging.
  • Forklift operating experience.
  • Experience working with power generation equipment and enclosures.
  • Experience supporting startup operations, plant expansions, or new facility launches.
Preferred
  • Technical education or trade school training in mechanical, industrial, electrical, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control systems.
  • Experience with fabrication and metalworking environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience performing quality inspections and documentation activities.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise, temperature fluctuations, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and production byproducts within OSHA-permissible limits.

Work areas may include concrete surfaces, ramps, metal platforms, uneven ground, and active production areas with regular movement around machinery, equipment, forklifts, cranes, and production lines. Some assignments may be performed outdoors depending on production requirements.

Required PPE must be worn at all times, and all company safety procedures and training requirements must be followed.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods on concrete, metal, wood, and fiberglass surfaces.
  • Ability to navigate ramps, stairs, walkways, ladders, and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, and maintain balance while performing installation activities.
  • Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive motions, tool usage, material handling, and assembly work.
  • Ability to safely operate or work around machinery, tools, forklifts, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to visually inspect materials, measurements, installations, and quality documentation.
  • Ability to safely perform work in active manufacturing environments.
