Job summary

Fidelity Manufacturing is seeking a hands-on Steel Material Processor to support the startup Texas facility. You will move, sort, measure, cut, and process raw steel used in tanks, enclosures, and structural components.

The role requires reading blueprints and working safely with bending and shearing equipment in a fast-paced production setting. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of operating a range of steel-processing equipment while maintaining quality

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions with accuracy.
  • Ability to read tape measurements and perform basic calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality, with safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Move raw steel materials and components through the facility.
  • Sort, measure, mark, and prepare materials for processing.
  • Set up and operate shears, press brakes, and CNC burn tables.
  • Monitor operations and adjust controls to maintain quality.
  • Inspect finished parts and maintain production records.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas and proper material handling.

Job Summary

The Steel Material Processor is responsible for moving, sorting, measuring, cutting, shearing, bending, and processing raw steel materials used throughout the manufacturing process. This position supports production by ensuring materials are prepared safely, accurately, and efficiently while operating a variety of steel processing equipment, including shears, press brakes, and CNC burn tables.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience operating manufacturing equipment, and the ability to read blueprints, specifications, and work instructions. Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, safe work practices, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Essential Job Functions
Material Processing & Production Support
  • Move raw steel materials and processed components throughout the facility.
  • Sort raw materials and burn kits for processing operations.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points according to drawings and specifications.
  • Square and shear material accurately to required dimensions.
  • Square and form material accurately using press brakes and related equipment.
  • Prepare materials for downstream fabrication, welding, and assembly operations.
  • Verify processed materials meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Maintain proper identification and organization of processed materials.
Equipment Operation
  • Set up and operate shears, press brakes, CNC burn tables, and related processing equipment.
  • Calculate and set machine controls such as speed, feed, depth, angle of cut, and other required operating parameters.
  • Monitor machine operations and identify out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Adjust machine controls as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment as trained and authorized.
  • Maintain equipment and workstations in safe operating condition.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Verify dimensions and measurements using tape measures and other measuring devices.
  • Inspect materials throughout the processing operation to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of potential hazards and surrounding activities.
  • Keep equipment, workstations, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Operate machinery and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work safely around forklifts, material handling equipment, and moving machinery.
  • Support safety initiatives and participate in required training activities.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout assigned work areas.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years of manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, machining, or related industrial experience.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and work instructions.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure and measuring devices.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to solve simple calculations.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
Highly Preferred
  • Experience operating shears, press brakes, CNC burn tables, saws, or material processing equipment.
  • Experience working with steel materials and fabricated products.
  • Manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Experience reading production prints and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience supporting startup operations or rapidly growing manufacturing facilities.
Preferred
  • Technical school, trade school, or vocational training related to manufacturing, machining, or fabrication.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience using measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of material handling and warehouse operations.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing warehouse environment with regular exposure to loud noise, vibration, fluctuating temperatures, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and byproducts of metal processing within OSHA-permissible exposure limits.

The role requires frequent movement through production areas involving concrete floors, metal platforms, inclines, ramps, uneven ground, and workspaces near operating machinery, forklifts, and material-handling equipment. Some tasks may occur outdoors or between buildings and may require adaptability to varying weather conditions.

Required PPE must be worn at all times, and all company safety procedures and training requirements must be followed.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform tasks for extended periods on concrete, metal, and industrial surfaces.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, crouch, climb, and maintain balance while positioning materials for processing operations.
  • Ability to navigate ramps, inclines, uneven surfaces, stairs, and production walkways throughout the facility.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions while measuring, marking, processing, and handling materials.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate machinery, tools, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to read measurements, specifications, computer screens, and production documentation.
  • Ability to safely work around moving machinery, forklifts, and material handling equipment.
