Job description

The Packaging Manager leads all daily operations and efficiency initiatives for the packaging department. This position will perform duties in packaging operations and staff training, efficiency analysis and line planning, raw materials procurement and analysis, vendor maintenance and supply relationships, and be a key contributor to the team’s success. The ideal candidate will value not only his/her growth, but that of the packaging team as well, championing those who seek improvement and advancement consistent with our core values.

Duties of Position

  • Oversee all day-to-day packaging production activities on our KHS keg filler, and CFT rotary filler.
  • Ensure all SOPs are up to date, being followed, and that each member of the team is properly trained to execute per the SOPs.
  • Responsible for the financial performance of the packaging department.
  • Plan schedules and manage labor schedules to optimize line efficiency and control labor costs.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings in order to ensure thorough and timely communication about weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual goals.
  • Perform employee reviews and ensure all members of the packaging team are tracking for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee successful onboarding of all new packaging team employees.
  • Build and maintain successful working relationships with all key vendors and technicians.
  • Maintain vigilant oversight on safety and quality.
  • Operate with urgency but not at the expense of safety and quality.
  • Place raw material orders and work collaboratively with the warehouse to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly and annual counts of all inventories.
  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance department to perform all planned maintenance, and ensure it occurs on time and proactively.
  • Based on downtime analysis suggest equipment improvements or CAPEX projects.
  • Verify all product is within spec prior to packaging.
  • Ensure all product specification checks and quality checks are completed prior to each run.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to work in hot/cold environments and lift 50lbs.
  • All other tasks as assigned by thePlant Manager.
  • Requisite Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Management discipline.
  • 5 years of experience operating automated filling equipment (rotary fillers preferred) and training direct reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation; technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire for continuous improvement of oneself and the team.
  • Must value a team-focused atmosphere and demonstrate performance at a consistently high level.
  • Ability to extract, evaluate, and utilize data for process improvement from applicable systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills.
  • Flexibility and availability to overtime.
