Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Woodridge, IL is seeking a Machine Operator to fully operate and maintain equipment to meet production deadlines. You will read job tickets, set up machines, count and label sleeves, cartons, and skids, and perform preventive maintenance while following 6S practices.

The role requires basic reading skills, mechanical aptitude, and intermediate computer skills; starting pay is $18 per hour with benefits and overtime possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment and machine maintenance.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform duties with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently to meet production deadlines.
• Maintain machine workflow and set up per job tickets.
• Read job tickets and initiate machine set-ups.
• Count, pack, and label sleeves, cartons, and skids.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines as needed.
• Ensure 6S practices are followed.
