Job summary

Sonny’s Enterprises is the world’s leading manufacturer of conveyorized car wash equipment and packaging. The Packaging Engineer II will design, develop, test, and implement packaging solutions supporting product development and manufacturing processes, ensuring protection, quality, and cost targets.

The role involves leading packaging projects, reviewing specs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and optimizing for manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Packaging Engineering.
• 3-6+ years of industrial or consumer packaging experience.
• Experience with packaging design validation standards (ISO/ASTM) and drawing standards.
• Proficient in 3D CAD; ERP experience (SAP) preferred.
• Experience with developing packaging for shipping equipment in dry vans is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop parcel, pallet, and crate-based packaging solutions.
• Lead packaging development projects from design to validation and implementation.
• Review drawings and product specs to determine packaging needs.
• Troubleshoot packaging issues related to materials, suppliers, and manufacturing.
• Develop packaging specifications, drawings, and design standards.
• Create and execute packaging test plans to validate designs.
• Evaluate materials and design alternatives to improve protection, quality and cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on packaging projects.
• Support introduction and launch activities for packaging requirements.
• Ensure packaging designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
