Job summary

Axalta Coating Systems in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a Packaging Engineer to lead finished product packaging strategies within the Raw Material Technology team at our Global Innovation Center. You will evaluate packaging materials, collaborate with procurement, operations, and regulatory teams, and drive cost optimization and process improvements while ensuring EH&S and global regulatory compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in packaging with hands-on experience in FTIR, XRF, and microscopy,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5+ years in packaging or packaging coatings.
• Strong understanding of packaging attributes and performance.
• Hands-on with FTIR, adhesion, XRF, microscopy.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management.
• Ability to work independently and cross-functional teams.
• Safety-first mindset.
• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify new packaging for multiple product lines.
• Collaborate with procurement, process technology, and regulatory teams.
• Scale-up and implement new packaging materials in manufacturing.
• Design experiments and testing protocols for packaging.
• Develop and maintain packaging specifications and documentation.
• Partner with suppliers to assess new technologies.
• Support troubleshooting of packaging-related issues in manufacturing.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Align packaging strategies with market needs and business objectives.
