Job summary

ORBIS Corporation in Northwood, OH is seeking a Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co‑Op for June–December 2027. You will learn about materials and manufacturing processes, gain hands‑on design experience, and become proficient in SolidWorks while creating prototypes and final prints.

You will support the Custom Design/Engineering Team by turning customer specifications into manufacturable packaging designs, managing projects from concept through execution, and ensuring design quality and safety

Qualifications

• Junior or Senior pursuing a technical or Bachelor’s degree in Plastic Engineering Technology or Packaging Engineering.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering and packaging engineering.
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• Proficient with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage assigned project/projects
• Provide design samples to meet the needs and wants of our customers and sales team on a timely basis
• Provide cost effective and manufacturable designs from concept to production
• Provide technical skill, knowledge and judgment to ensure designs meet our customer’s specific needs
• Ensure the quality of design prior to manufacturing by fabricating a prototype for customer approval
• Suggest ways to address issues discovered during assembly and overall manufacturing
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and performs job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
• Seeks assistance or guidance from design team members or manager when necessary
