Job summary

ORBIS Corporation invites student engineers to join its Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co‑Op in Mentor, OH, from January 2027 to June 2027, with potential extension into the summer. You will learn materials and manufacturing processes, gain hands-on design experience in SolidWorks, interpret prints, and manage projects from concept through execution under mentorship.

Responsibilities include leading assigned projects, providing design samples for customers and sales, ensuring manufacturability

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Technical or Bachelor’s degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical/packaging engineering.
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of automotive/vehicle products.
• Able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing plants.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage assigned project/projects.
• Provide design samples to meet customer and sales needs on time.
• Develop cost-effective and manufacturable designs from concept to production.
• Provide technical judgment to ensure designs meet customer needs.
• Fabricate a prototype to verify design prior to manufacturing.
• Suggest improvements identified during assembly and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and follow company safety policies.
• Seek guidance from design team or manager when needed.
