Job summary

Evermark is seeking a Packaging Consultant to support day-to-day packaging development for innovation initiatives and base business needs. You will collaborate with SBC and external suppliers to move concepts from design to commercialization, maintaining packaging specs and coordinating trials.

The ideal candidate has strong packaging technical expertise, experience with development and testing plans, and can drive value engineering while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging/Plastics/Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 5-10 years in package engineering & development in consumer products/beauty industry.
  • Experience creating packaging specifications for manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of extrusion blow molding, ISBM, injection molding, printing and filling processes.
  • Familiarity with CP packaging materials and properties.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop packaging solutions with external suppliers.
  • Ensure packaging projects meet brand, cost, quality, and design requirements.
  • Develop and maintain packaging component specifications.
  • Lead line trials and work with third-party labs for testing.
  • Identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities.
  • Support on-site production startups and qualifications.

Position Summary

The Packaging Consultant reports to the Packaging Manager and supports day-to-day packaging development activities for both innovation initiatives and base business needs. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional partners across SBC, as well as external suppliers, to bring product concepts to life from initial design through commercialization. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in packaging and is responsible for developing and maintaining packaging specifications, coordinating line trials with external partners, and designing and executing testing plans to ensure successful and seamless new product launches.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Finance to develop and deliver new packaging solutions through external suppliers.
  • Ensure packaging projects meet brand objectives while balancing cost, quality, design, and functional requirements.
  • Manage the development, documentation, and maintenance of packaging component specifications within the designated specification system.
  • Establish and maintain component standards and range boards that meet brand requirements for functionality and aesthetics; oversee the organization and upkeep of the physical standards library.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on artwork development, ensuring accuracy and compliance with packaging requirements throughout the artwork creation process.
  • Develop and execute testing plans for new product developments (NPDs) in partnership with third-party labs and component suppliers.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement cost-saving and value engineering initiatives.
  • Lead and support on-site production startups, line trials, and qualifications for new packaging components and filling operations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of external supplier capabilities and emerging technologies.
  • Stay current on packaging materials, regulatory requirements, and industry trends to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Troubleshoot packaging and production issues, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support ongoing business needs, including supply continuity and stock coverage.
  • Provide additional support and project leadership as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging/Plastics/Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in package engineering & development in consumer products, beauty, or related industry.
  • Experience creating packaging specifications for manufacturing.
  • A technical acumen with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing processes including extrusion blow molding, ISBM, injection molding, printing and filling.
  • Knowledge of various CPG packaging materials and their physical and chemical properties.
  • Ability to partner effectively across a diverse set of business partners and customers to deliver key results in a timely manner.
  • Entrepreneurial; Business owner mentality, willing to be hands-on and contribute as one team.
  • Ability to tackle complex problems through critical thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills, including spoken and written English.
  • Ability to travel Domestic and International up to 25%.
  • Strong PC skills: MS Office, PowerPoint, CAD software is a plus.

Compensation: This is a contract role with an hourly rate of $50-60 hourly. Duration is 6 - 12 months with possibility of extension.
