Job summary

Evermark is seeking a highly skilled R&D Formulation and Scale-up Consultant to lead product enhancements and technology transfer from lab to full-scale production. You will partner with packaging, operations and contract manufacturers to move formulas to reliable, repeatable output.

The role is a 12-month hybrid, in Hackensack, NJ, 1099 contract with potential extension. Strong background in formulation, scale-up, and external manufacturing is essential.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years with Bachelor's in Chemistry/Engineering/Biology or 3–5 years with a Master's.
• Strong understanding of formulation technology and chemical science.
• Understanding of GxP and FDA compliance requirements.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience with consumer products such as hair care, lip care, and/or deodorant preferred.
• Experience in formulation, product, or process development within Cosmetic or Drug regulatory classifications.
• Knowledge of liquids processing options (batch, semi-continuous, continuous).
• Process development and process scale-up experience.
• Experience working with external manufacturing partners and technical project management.
• Ability to collaborate across diverse business partners to deliver results.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

This is a hybrid (3-days per week in the office in Hackensack, NJ), full-time, 12-month engagement (1099 contract), with possibility to extend.

The R&D Formulation and Scale-up Consultant will drive flawless execution of product enhancements and technology transfer for existing base business products and reformulations. This role will partner closely with packaging, operations and Evermark's external network of contract manufacturers to move formulas from lab and pilot scale into reliable, repeatable full-scale production.

This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on role that calls for a strong technical grounding in formulation and manufacturing process, paired with the business judgment and communication skills to align stakeholders and external partners around a shared plan.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with external manufacturers, design, optimize, and implement manufacturing and filling processes across a variety of product forms.
• Support the transfer of production from previous manufacturing sites to new external manufacturers.
• Manufacturing & filling process design - Collaborate with external manufacturers to design, optimize, and implement manufacturing and filling processes across a variety of product forms (e.g., liquids, emulsions, semi-solids)
• Technology transfer - Support the transfer of production from existing manufacturing sites to new manufacturing
• Raw material qualifications - Qualify new or alternate raw materials to support cost savings initiatives or rapid-response needs (e.g., supply disruptions), coordinating with manufacturing sites to build and execute the technical qualification plan
• Troubleshooting - Troubleshoot production and process issues as they arise
• Continuous improvement - Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing efficiency and cost savings
• Quality & Regulatory partnership - Maintain strong working partnerships with external manufacturing sites in coordination with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliant, in-spec production

Required Qualifications
