Job summary

Merck is seeking a Packaging Component Engineer at our Wilson site to support component life cycle management, investigate quality events, and drive packaging improvements across global markets. You will collaborate with above-site teams and suppliers to introduce new products, transfer processes, and ensure compatibility with regulatory expectations.

The role involves design transfers, process optimization, and technical investigations to prevent deviations and support product lifecycle

Qualifications

• B.S. in Packaging Science or related engineering with COOP/Internship or 6 months packaging operations or process design.
• Experience in GMP environments and formal problem-solving methods.
• Strong written and oral communication with documentation experience.

Responsibilities

• Author and revise component specifications with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with vendors to develop/test components for qualifications and launches.
• Support design transfer and input to strategic initiatives.
• Lead change initiatives and manage site changes with SMEs.
• Maintain workflows for component drawings used globally.
• Troubleshoot line issues and coordinate supplier investigations.
• Provide technical SME support for deviations and field complaints.
• Support regulatory inspections and packaging operation readiness.
• Participate in FATs and IQ/OQ/PQ focused on packaging integrity.
• Contribute to risk management for packaging operations and components.
