Job Title: Packager Job Description

The Packager works in a clean, climate-controlled warehouse area of a metal manufacturing facility, handling finished products as they move out of production. In this role, you weigh materials, pack and label orders according to customer specifications, prepare boxes for shipment, and stack them on pallets using counting and electronic equipment. This position is considered one of the easiest roles in the facility, offers a quiet environment where you may listen to music while working, and provides a clear path to structured pay increases through a union framework.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately pack customer orders according to specifications, due dates, and dispatch reports.
  • Verify that products match the correct shop orders before packing.
  • Follow special packaging techniques and procedures as required by each order.
  • Weigh materials and place them into bags, then pack the bags into boxes and tape boxes securely.
  • Stack packed boxes on pallets in an organized and stable manner.
  • Operate counting and electronic equipment, including weight scales, bar code readers, computer terminals, RF scanners, and other electronic devices.
  • Accurately clock into and out of operations and log quantities as work is performed.
  • Perform Foreign Object Debris/Damage (FOD) inspections to ensure product quality and cleanliness.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records while picking, packing, and labeling products.
  • Use pallet jacks and other basic material handling tools safely and effectively.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workplace.
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure smooth product flow from the metal shop environment to finished goods storage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and packaging operations.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English to follow work instructions and document activities.
  • Basic computer proficiency for using terminals and logging work data.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a packaging or warehouse environment.
  • Experience with packaging, packing, and labeling processes.
  • Familiarity with inventory handling in a warehouse or production setting.
  • Ability to operate RF scanners and bar code readers for tracking and inventory.
  • Comfort working in a metal shop environment with warehouse operations.
  • Ability to safely use pallet jacks and basic material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail to verify product accuracy and follow special packaging techniques.
  • Commitment to following safety regulations and maintaining a clean work area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a unionized production or warehouse environment.
  • Prior exposure to punch press or metal manufacturing operations, even if working primarily in the warehouse.
  • Experience performing quality checks, such as Foreign Object Debris/Damage (FOD) inspections.
  • Ability to work independently in a quiet environment while maintaining productivity.
