Job summary

Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to safely transport cylinders to designated locations, perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections, and maintain accurate records.

The role requires a valid Class B license with Hazmat and Air Brake endorsements, a good driving record, and ability to lift heavy cylinders. The site reports to Site/Operations Manager and may involve forklift work.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial Class B license with Hazmat and Air Brake endorsements, Medical card.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in commercial driving or graduation from approved driving school.
• Minimum one year road experience preferred with clean driving record in last 3 years.
• Must be at least 21 with excellent driving record.

Responsibilities

• Transport cylinders to internal and external customers safely and timely.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and keep vehicle clean.
• Complete driver logs/trip reports accurately daily.
• Record cylinders/hard-goods transactions on delivery tickets and trip reports.
• Maintain communications with supervisor on safety and customer matters.
• Operate forklift for loading/unloading as required.
• Uphold company loss prevention policies and report safety incidents.
• Use time management to meet deadlines and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Participate in local safety committee when assigned.
• Provide first line technical support and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position is responsible forthe transportation of materials in a safe and timely manner by applyingknowledge for commercial driving regulations, and roads in the area. Theprofessional driver will be responsible for driving to and from designatedlocations, verifying loads to shipping papers, maintaining records of dutystatus according to State and Federal Regulations, and performing pre-tripand post-trip inspections. Must present a professional business image to thepublic as well as fellow employees. Must possess a validcommercial Class B Drivers’ License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, andMedical card; packaged gas straight truck driver; to include pumper,micro-bulk. Class A Drivers’ License & Tanker Endorsementspreferred. This position reports to the Site Manager or OperationsManager.

EssentialFunctions

1. Transports cylinders to assigned internal and externalcustomers in a timely and safety conscious manner. Stays within all postedspeed limits and complies with all DOT and company safety policies andprocedures.

2. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections on thevehicle. Maintains the vehicle in a clean and proper condition.

3. Legibly completes driver log/trip reports on a dailybasis.

4. Responsible for accurate recording of cylinders/hard-goodstransactions on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.

5. Maintains good communications with supervisor andmanagement especially safety and customer matters.

6. Operates / Drives forklift truck as required for loadingand unloading of product.

7. Sets tone for employees by good example through observationof the company's Loss prevention policies and procedures. Reports accidentsincluding near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and obeys safety rules.

8. Uses effective time management tools in order to followthrough on work commitments and scheduled deadlines associated with own job;obtains agreement of all stake-holders within a development program toidentify issues, minimizes risks at an early stage, ensure safety, andon-time delivery.

9. Participate as an active member of the local safetycommittee when assigned according to the rotation process.

11. Provide first line technical support.

12. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

• Mandatory must possess a valid commercial Class BDrivers’ License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card;packaged gas straight truck driver; to include pumper, micro-bulk.Class A Drivers’ License & Tanker Endorsements preferred.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have previous commercial driving experience, orhave graduated from an accredited commercial driving school.
• Minimum of one year road experience preferred withno previous moving violations for three years.
• Must be at least 21 years of age with an excellentdriving record.
• Must be able to push cart 200 + lb. cylinders andbend/lift 50+lb containers.
• Must have the ability to read and write Englishlanguage. Perform simple mathematical calculations. Must have abilityto handle receipts; read maps, road signs, maintain record of dutystatus, etc.
• Ability to perform basic administrative functionsand problem solving.
• Must be flexible with work hours.
• Prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping andclimbing.
• Capable of working in diverse weather and workingconditions.
• Preferred previous experience in the cylinder gasspecialty chemical industry.
