Job summary

Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to transport cylinders to internal and external customers in a timely and safe manner. You will verify loads, complete DOT logs, and maintain daily inspections while upholding company safety policies.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat and Air Brake endorsements, a medical card, and forklift operation as needed. Attractive incentive plan included.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat, Air Brake endorsements and Medical card.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred for progression.
• 1-3 years driving experience required, 4-6 or 7-9 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports cylinders to customers safely and timely.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Completes driver logs daily and records shipments accurately.
• Maintains communication with supervisor on safety and deliveries.
• Operates forklift for loading/unloading as needed.
• Supports safety programs and reports incidents and near misses.

Job description

This position isresponsible for the transportation of materials in a safe and timely mannerby applying knowledge for commercial driving regulations, and roads in thearea. The professional driver will be responsible for driving to and fromdesignated locations, verifying loads to shipping papers, maintaining recordsof duty status according to State and Federal Regulations, and performingpre-trip and post-trip inspections. Must present a professional businessimage to the public as well as fellow employees. Must possess avalid commercial Class A Drivers’ License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements,and Medical card; packaged gas straight truck driver; to include pumper,micro-bulk. Tanker Endorsements preferred. This positionreports to the Site Manager or Operations Manager.

Salary: $29.00+ per hour & a monthly Driver Incentive Payment Plan

EssentialFunctions

1. Transports cylinders to assigned internal and external customersin a timely and safety conscious manner. Stays within all posted speed limitsand complies with all DOT and company safety policies and procedures.

2. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle.Maintains the vehicle in a clean and proper condition.

3. Legibly completes driver log/trip reports on a daily basis.

4. Responsible for accurate recording of cylinders/hard-goodstransactions on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.

5. Maintains good communications with supervisor and managementespecially safety and customer matters.

6. Operates / Drives forklift truck as required for loading andunloading of product.

7. Sets tone for employees by good example through observation ofthe company's Loss prevention policies and procedures. Reports accidentsincluding near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and obeys safety rules.

8. Uses effective time management tools in order to follow throughon work commitments and scheduled deadlines associated with own job; obtainsagreement of all stake-holders within a development program to identifyissues, minimizes risks at an early stage, ensure safety, and on-timedelivery.

9. Participate as an active member of the local safety committeewhen assigned according to the rotation process.

11. Provide first line technical support.

12. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
