Job summary

• Operate a forklift for loading/unloading as needed.
• Follow safety policies and participate in local safety activities.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the transportation of materials in a safe and timely manner by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and local roads. The professional driver will drive to and from designated locations, verify loads against shipping papers, maintain duty‑status records according to State and Federal regulations, and perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections. The driver must present a professional business image to the public and to fellow employees. Must possess a valid commercial Class B Driver’s License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card; packaged gas straight‑truck driver, including pumper and micro‑bulk. Class A Driver’s License and Tanker Endorsements are preferred. This position reports to the Site Manager or Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Transport cylinders to assigned internal and external customers in a timely and safety‑conscious manner, staying within speed limits and complying with all DOT and company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections on the vehicle and maintain the vehicle in a clean and proper condition.
• Legibly complete driver logs/trip reports on a daily basis.
• Accurately record cylinders/hard‑goods transactions on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.
• Maintain good communications with supervisor and management, especially regarding safety and customer matters.
• Operate a forklift truck as required for loading and unloading of product.
• Set a positive tone for employees by demonstrating a good example and observing the company’s loss‑prevention policies and procedures; report accidents, near‑misses, unsafe acts or conditions, and obey safety rules.
• Use effective time‑management tools to follow through on work commitments and scheduled deadlines, obtaining agreement from all stakeholders to identify issues, minimize risks early, ensure safety, and on‑time delivery.
• Participate as an active member of the local safety committee when assigned according to the rotation process.
• Fill cryogenic liquid Dewars.
• Provide first‑line technical support.
• Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess a valid commercial Class B Driver’s License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card; packaged gas straight‑truck driver, including pumper, micro‑bulk; Class A Driver’s License and Tanker Endorsements preferred.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous commercial driving experience or graduation from an accredited commercial driving school.
• Minimum of one year road experience preferred with no previous moving violations for three years.
• At least 21 years of age with an excellent driving record.
• Ability to push a 200‑plus‑pound cylinder and bend/lift 50‑plus‑pound containers.
• Reading and writing in English; perform basic mathematical calculations; handle receipts; read maps, road signs; maintain duty‑status records.
• Ability to perform basic administrative functions and problem‑solving.
• Flexible with work hours.
• Prolonged sitting, bending, stooping, and climbing.
• Capable of working in diverse weather and working conditions.
• Preferred previous experience in the cylinder gas specialty chemical industry.
