Job summary

Wood seeks a hands-on construction helper in Houston to analyze plans, interpret work orders, and determine required materials. You will measure with standard and metric rulers and perform basic construction tasks with the appropriate tools.

You will follow safety rules, assist craft professionals, select materials for specific trades, and use basic math for measurements. Compliance with OSHA and client requirements guides every task and site preparation.

Qualifications

• Must work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Must be able to work at heights without fear.
• Ability to compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures, objects.
• Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Follow the rules of safe conduct always.
• Use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
• Demonstrate ability to use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals for calculations and follow instructions.
• Identify and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools.
• Assist craft person and perform manual excavation.
• Identify, explain, and perform crane hand signals.
• Work with a craft person and select appropriate materials for specific crafts.
• Prepare construction sites and follow waste handling guidelines.
