Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read protection diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with SCADA hardware, HMI software, and industry standards (NERC CIP).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement programs and configuration files for SCADA devices.
  • Support SCADA devices, Station Data Managers, HMIs, and multiple SCADA hardware platforms.
  • Read protection diagrams, wiring diagrams, and project documentation.
  • Create IO summaries from drawings, relay settings, and data.
  • Interface with Engineering, Field Resources, and Operations teams.
  • Provide commissioning, engineering, and troubleshooting support to field resources.
  • Adhere to SCADA standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Enter compliance data into databases and maintain records.
  • Travel to field sites as required (5–15%).

Job description

  • Design, develop, and implement programs and configuration files for SCADA devices
  • Support SCADA devices, Station Data Managers, Human Machine Interfaces, and multiple SCADA hardware platforms
  • Support substation metering, alarming, controls, and troubleshooting for Transmission, Distribution, Customer, and Generation Interconnection stations
  • Use DNP 3.0, SEL, ASCII, and MODBUS communications protocols
  • Read and interpret protection one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel drawings, relay settings, customer data, and project documentation
  • Create IO summaries from drawings, relay settings, and customer data
  • Interface with P&C Engineering, Design, Field Resources, System Operations, and Operations/Control Center personnel
  • Provide commissioning, engineering, and troubleshooting support to field resources
  • Adhere to SCADA standards, documentation, processes, internal requirements, and industry compliance requirements
  • Enter compliance and non-compliance data into databases and perform related queries
  • Coordinate work activities, maintain accurate project records and files, and represent the company positively
  • Visit field sites and/or plants when required
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program required; a Master's degree in Engineering may be accepted in lieu
  • Engineer I: no experience required
  • Engineer II: minimum of 2 years of engineering experience attained at a "Fully Meets" performance level
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
  • Understanding of engineering research, design issue evaluation, alternatives analysis, recommendations, and presentations
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals from varied socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Basic understanding of DNP 3.0, SEL, ASCII, and MODBUS communication protocols
  • Basic understanding of networking and telecommunications
  • Ability to read protection one-lines, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Familiarity with SCADA hardware platforms, HMI software, automation/computing platforms, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with SEL products and applicable regulatory requirements, including NERC CIP
  • Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to participate in scheduled after-hours support rotation for emergent issues and storm response
  • Travel requirement: 5-15%
