Job description

We are seeking an experienced SCADA Design Engineer to support a critical utility customer as part of our integrated IT/OT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, configuration, and lifecycle management of SCADA systems that monitor and control electric, water, wastewater, or gas distribution infrastructure. You will serve as a bridge between operational technology and enterprise IT, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable control system solutions that meet both operational and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilitie

sYou will design and develop SCADA system architectures, including HMI/SCADA screens, alarming, trending, and historian configurations tailored to utility operations. You will lead the engineering design of new SCADA deployments and system upgrades, from concept through commissioning, including development of functional design specifications, I/O lists, and network diagrams. Working closely with IT and OT stakeholders, you will ensure seamless integration between field devices (RTUs, PLCs, IEDs) and SCADA platforms using DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, ICCP, or other utility-grade protocols. You will collaborate with network and cybersecurity engineers to design OT network architectures that comply with NERC CIP, NIST, or other applicable utility security frameworks. You will support FAT/SAT activities, system commissioning, and cutover planning for new and modified SCADA systems. You will also troubleshoot and resolve issues related to communications, data quality, and system performance in a 24/7 operational environment. You will develop and maintain engineering documentation including as-built drawings, standard operating procedures, and design change records, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and field technicians
