Job summary

Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina, Inc. (IIANC) is hiring a Personal Lines Customer Service Representative to join our office.

This full-time role offers a 37.5-hour work week with hybrid/work-from-home flexibility and a focus on educating clients and advocating for their insurance needs. You will handle inquiries, provide quotes, process bindings, and manage client relationships using our agency system.

Qualifications

• Licensed Property & Casualty with 1–3 years of experience.
• Strong communication and customer service focus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls and correspondence regarding new or existing policies, service claims, and client concerns.
• Pre-qualify prospects, gather data, develop quotes, present options, finalize and bind coverage.
• Maintain records in the agency management system and respond within targeted timeframes.
• Interact with customers, carriers, and staff on service and marketing activities.

Our office is expanding and we are looking to hire the right individual to join our outstanding customer service team. We are currently seeking to fulfill a Full-Time position. As our new Personal Lines Customer Service Representative, you will work 37.5 hours a week. You will be responsible for maintaining solid customer relationships by handling personal lines insurance coverage inquiries and concerns with speed and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Answer customer calls and correspondence regarding new or existing insurance policies, service claims and address client concerns.
• Work with prospects to pre-qualify and understand their needs, gather necessary data, develop insurance quotes, present options, finalize and bind new coverage, cancel old policies, and negotiate with carriers when necessary.
• Maintain records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, comments, and actions taken in the agency management system.
• Responds to all inquiries, cancellation requests, and sales requests within a specified timeframe.
• Interact daily with customers, insurance carriers, and fellow employees while conducting specific service and marketing activities.

Requirements

• Licensed Property & Casualty with 1-3 years experience.
• Have a Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Familiarity with Erie Insurance is a plus.
• Bilingual - English/Spanish is a plus.
• Must be a Resident of North Carolina
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of insurance products and usages, rating procedures, underwriting procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned clients and prospects.
• Excellent Communication skills - strong customer focus, ability, and tact to handle difficult customer phone calls and solve complex problems without direct supervision.
• Works well with other employees and is a team player with a positive attitude.
