Job summary

JCW Group is recruiting for a leading property and casualty insurer seeking an Accounting Manager to join its corporate finance team. This hands-on leadership role provides visibility to senior finance leadership and is based in Midtown Manhattan.

The role requires a CPA, 5+ years of accounting experience in P&C insurance, and strong knowledge of statutory accounting and US GAAP. You will lead a small team, coordinate with actuarial and underwriting, and serve as a liaison with external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with a meaningful portion in P&C insurance.
• Solid working knowledge of statutory accounting and US GAAP.
• Experience with reinsurance accounting and annual statement preparation.
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff.
• Strong Excel skills; ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, Workday, or similar) a plus.
• Clear communicator across departments and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own key parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Prepare and review statutory and GAAP financial reporting, including quarterly and annual statement filings.
• Support accounting for premiums, losses and LAE, reinsurance, and related reserve activity.
• Lead and develop a small team of staff and senior accountants.
• Partner with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and FP&A to ensure numbers tie out and tell the right story.
• Serve as a point of contact for external auditors and regulatory exams.
• Look for ways to tighten processes, strengthen controls, and improve close efficiency.
